Kapa welcomes you to ‘Consider yourself at home’ with the Broadway junior version of Lionel Bart’s classic musical based on Charles Dicken’s novel, Oliver Twist.
The story begins at the workhouse with Mr Bumble and Widow Corney watching the orphans dreaming of ‘Food, Glorious Food’ to their dismay, Oliver musters up the courage to ask for more, setting off a chain of life-changing events, Oliver soon questions ‘Where is Love?’
Oliver escapes and travels to London to seek his fortune. On meeting the Artful Dodger, he is soon considered to be one of the gang – Fagin’s gang, where he is quickly taught to ‘Pick a pocket or two’ after all, he does declare ‘I’d do anything.’
It’s not long until Oliver is put to work to earn his keep once more, but this time, he is encouraged by old Fagin to ‘Be Back Soon’ but he doesn’t return. Oliver is captured for a theft he did not commit by the old bill, however, Mr Brownlow kindly takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hide out, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sykes and sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the truth about his family. We soon see that it is time to be ‘Reviewing the situation.’
